Well here’s how a little bit of Aussie ingenuity, wood, steel, and h2o can help you achieve both.
Using a process perfected over the last 5 years, including boat building methods discovered by the Vikings 500 years ago, master craftsman Colin Perkovic has engineered the ultimate way to turn wine barrels into bathing vessels that would make the Romans shine emerald green with envy.
Not only will you feel like Poseidon or Aphrodite when you exit your hot tub or ice bath, you will sleep well knowing you have supported Australian industry.
That’s right, all our barrel baths are handmade right here in Australia from reclaimed material.
Not only that, we collaborate with local suppliers such as Paul who is 93 years young and loves what he does. He hand picks and recycles the best automotive aluminium possible to manufacture our stands.
Crafted, with care, passion and pride each barrel bath is completely unique. Our craftsmanship showcases the natural lustre and prestige of 100 year old hand selected oak and the region in which it was grown.
Our ice baths and hot tubs turn any backyard or Airbnb into a talking point.

Health Benefits of Ice Baths and Hot Tubs

ICE BATHS
Ice baths, also known as cold plunge baths, have been used by athletes and health and wellness enthusiasts for centuries. They offer a range of health benefits:
Reduced Muscle Soreness
One of the primary reasons athletes use ice baths is to reduce muscle soreness after intense workouts. The cold temperature constricts blood vessels, reducing inflammation and swelling. This process, vasoconstriction, helps flush out metabolic waste products like lactic acid.
Improved Circulation
After exiting the cold plunge, the body warms up, and blood vessels dilate, promoting better blood flow and oxygen delivery to muscles. This improved circulation can aid in muscle recovery and overall cardiovascular health.
Boosted Immune System
Regular cold exposure can strengthen the immune system. Cold water immersion stimulates the production of white blood cells, which play a crucial role in defending the body against infections.
Enhanced Mental Health
Cold water immersion has been linked to improved mental health. It triggers the release of endorphins and norepinephrine, which can alleviate symptoms of depression and anxiety. The invigorating sensation of cold water can also increase alertness and improve mood.
Skin and Hair Benefits
Cold water tightens the pores and cuticles, leading to smoother skin and shinier hair. It can also reduce inflammation and redness, benefitting those with skin conditions like eczema or acne.
Helps Cultivate Resilience
Perseverance through temporary discomfort. Cultivating this kind of mental fortitude increases your capacity to cope with whatever life throws at you. This makes you better equipped to deal with the stress of daily life.

HOT TUBS
Hot tubs offer a contrasting set of health benefits, making them a perfect complement to ice baths:
Muscle Relaxation
A hot tub’s warm water and buoyancy help relax muscles and reduce tension. The heat increases blood flow, delivering oxygen and nutrients to muscle tissues, which can aid in the healing process.
Pain Relief
Hot tubs can relieve various types of pain, including arthritis, back pain, and fibromyalgia. The heat and buoyancy reduce the load on joints and muscles.
Stress Reduction
Soaking in a hot tub promotes relaxation and stress relief. The warmth and gentle pressure of the water can lower cortisol levels, the body’s primary stress hormone, leading to a sense of calm and well-being.
Improved Sleep
Using a hot tub before bedtime can improve sleep quality. The warm water raises body temperature, and the subsequent cooling period after exiting the tub signals to the body that it is time to sleep, promoting deeper and more restful sleep.
Cardiovascular Health
Regular hot tub use causes blood vessels to dilate, improving circulation and reducing blood pressure. This can mimic some of the benefits of exercise, making it a good option for those with limited mobility.
Detoxification
Sweating in a hot tub helps the body eliminate toxins. The increased blood flow and heat promote sweating, which can help detoxify the skin and body.
The materials used in our hot tubs and ice baths

RECLAIMED WOOD
We use 100 year old french oak from reclaimed wine barrels to make our ice baths and hot tubs. Craftsmen who make these wooden barrels are called coopers. And they get first pick on the best timber, even before fine furniture makers. Thus the wood used in our products is quite literally of the highest quality you can find. And exquisitely beautiful to boot.
RECLAIMED METAL
Recycled metals, such as stainless steel, copper, and aluminium, are robust and bring a sleek, modern look to baths. Stainless steel is known for its corrosion resistance, making it ideal for wet environments. Copper, with its natural patina over time, offers a rustic yet sophisticated appearance, while aluminium provides a lightweight yet sturdy option.

Sustainability and Design

ECO-FRIENDLY MANUFACTURING
At Mirna Mora we take pride in using reclaimed and recycled materials for our baths, significantly reducing the environmental impact compared to new virgin materials. The process involves less energy consumption and fewer emissions, contributing to a more sustainable future.
Australia has committed to the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Many major companies and organisations are getting involved in making Australia more eco-friendly, and Mirna Mora is also doing it’s part.
UNIQUE AESTHETICS
Each piece of reclaimed material carries its own history and character, making every bath unique. Yes, Ikea furniture has its place, but don’t you want to stand out from the crowd? Whether it’s the weathered texture of reclaimed wood or the industrial charm of recycled metal, your bath will have that distinct aesthetic that machine-made baths cannot duplicate.

INTEGRATION WITH NATURE
Our wooden ice baths and hot tubs blend seamlessly with their natural surroundings, making them ideal for both outdoor and indoor settings. The organic look and feel of wood enhances ones connection with nature, creating a tranquil and harmonious bathing experience.
The Bottom Line
Premium ice baths and wooden hot tubs made from reclaimed materials offer a unique combination of sustainability, aesthetics and health benefits. Mirna Mora’s use of such woods and metals not only enhances the visual appeal and longevity of our products but lessens the environmental impact during the production phase.
From reducing muscle soreness and improving circulation with ice baths to relieving pain and stress with hot tubs, our baths provide a holistic, down to earth approach to health and wellness.
